Although many people in the area of Sherman Oaks work at the studios neither David nor Jarnie was in the business when their children were born. The idea of MK and Ash becoming television stars was the last thing on their parent’s minds…But that June13th Contrary to superstion, the day turned out to be very lucky for proud parents.
But that all changed the day Jarnie went shopping with a friend, a woman whose child was pursuing an acting career. On the way home, the woman needed to stop by the office of her child’s talent agent. When Jarnie mentioned that she had twin daughters, the agent immediately asked to see their pictures. After one look, he wanted them to audition for the upcoming series of FULL HOUSE. In which a widowed dad is raising his 3 daughters. One of them was a toddler because often laws limiting the number of hrs that very young children can work, producers often look for twins who can share a role.
When Jarnie came with her twins, the scene inside the casting office was loud and chaotic. Dozens of twins’ sisters were crawling all over the room. And when it was the turn of the OLSEN TWINS they were CHOSEN ON THE SPOT which was again the last thing on Jarnie’s mind…
MK and Ash Olsen did not ask to be movie stars, actress or teen icons. Infact, neither of them could speak AT SEVEN MONTHS OLD WHEN THEY WERE CAST IN THEIR FIRST TV SHOW, FULL HOUSE…
MK is more serious, so she got to do serious lines. When they needed someone to do more active or emotional, they let Ash do it.
When FULL HOUSE first aired, it got terrible reviews and not many people watched it but later it WAS THE MOST POPULAR COMEDIES ON TELEVISION.
